Stevenage tribute to sporting superstars

Manchester United & England footballer Ashley Young unveiled a pictorial tribute to a town's sporting superstars on a busy walkway. Young, who hails from Stevenage, features in the new display alongside Lewis Hamilton and Ian Poulter, who also come from the town. Hamilton very recently won the Formula One world championship and golfer Poulter was a member of the winning European Ryder Cup team earlier in the year.

Working in conjunction with Andy Hills, Principal Architect at Stevenage Borough Council, Characters Signs researched and produced the artwork for the display and once finalised and approved, the design was printed directly to aluminium composite panels and installed to the walls along the walkway.

‘Characters Signs were an enthusiastic and creative team to work with, understanding the vision for the panels and the desire to make a connection with the passing public. The final designs interpreted the brief into a very pleasing and impressive array of the town’s sports personalities. Through the process they certainly went the extra mile, at both design and installation stages, to ensure the brief was completed to the clients satisfaction and to the highest standard’. A second pictorial featuring personalities from the arts world who also have a connection with Stevenage has been designed and will be installed on the other wall next month.
